Why this matters
The AI safety conversation is happening almost entirely in English, in Western institutions. Yet the consequences of getting this transition wrong are global — and the builders, policymakers, and researchers who could contribute from North Africa have no local community to plug into.
Inspired by AI Safety España, AI Safety Paris, and AI Safety Barcelona — we exist to build the same infrastructure for our region. Morocco's active tech ecosystem needs a seat at this table.
We started in Casablanca. North Africa is the goal.

First in-person gathering of AI Safety Morocco. We'll cover the AGI Strategy curriculum, map who's already working on relevant problems in the region, and structure the reading group going forward.

What we do
Following the BlueDot AGI Strategy curriculum — understanding the strategic landscape, key actors, and where individual leverage is highest. Monthly sessions, in-person in Casablanca.
Beginner-friendlyAlignment research, interpretability, and robustness. For people with ML backgrounds who want to understand or contribute to the technical side of making AI systems safe.

AI Safety Morocco was founded because Morocco's builder ecosystem is active, ambitious, and largely disconnected from the strategic risks involved in the systems we're all shipping.
The global AI safety conversation is almost entirely Western. North Africa has a different vantage point: deploying AI under resource constraints, in a region where safety governance barely exists. That perspective belongs in the room.
We started this community to change that — one session at a time, in Casablanca first, and across North Africa from there.
